Stafford County Launches New myStafford Citizen Portal

myStafford PortalThe Stafford County Treasurer's Office and Department of Utilities are pleased to announce the new, easy to use, myStafford Citizen Portal.

"Our citizens have asked for e-billing, access to account history, and a free online payment option", said Laura Rudy, Stafford County Treasurer. "This new system responds to those needs through an easy, one-time registration of their account online."

The new portal was created in partnership with Virginia Interactive and currently includes Utilities accounts only. Future plans call for the Treasurer's Office to add Personal Property Taxes, Real Estate Taxes and Dog Licensing fees to the new myStafford Citizen Portal, enhancing the overall online payment experience for the Stafford County citizen.

The new myStafford features include:

  • Create a myStafford online username and password for easy future access
  • Add your Utilities account(s) now - and other tax accounts as they become available
  • Enroll in electronic notifications and go green!
  • View your past 13 months of Utilities billing and payment history
  • Request Utility account billing address and phone number changes and service terminations
  • Pay with an e-check - it's fee free!

No time to create a myStafford account? No worries; simply use the one-time bill payment feature to pay without logging in.

In addition to these features, when making a Utilities payment the option to donate to Stafford Safety Net is available. Donations provide emergency assistance to citizens who do not meet the qualifications or guidelines of traditional County programs, religious organizations, or other non-profit community based organizations which provide aid.

The County piloted this portal in August and in just three short months, approximately 4,000 users have registered their Utilities accounts online and 1,500 have signed up to receive e-notifications and over 15,000 bills have been paid. Citizen responses to the new portal features have been positive.

"The new system is great! I don't have to remember my account number every time I want to make a payment online. Plus, now it's fee free!" - Diane Pape, myStafford user.

"Just wanted to say thanks for the new online water payment option! Nice to save a buck, and be able to set up an account for easier sign in. I really appreciate it." - Sam Houchins, myStafford user.
